1 John 1-3

John desires us to have fellowship with the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. We need to develop a relationship with them and become more like them we can do this by.

· 1 John 1:8-10

We need to confess our sins or in other words repent of our sins and then we will be forgiving of all our sins.

· 1 John 2:3-6

We need to keep the commandments of God and abide in Him by walking in His footsteps. When we do this we show God that we love Him and the love of God will be perfected in us.

· 1 John 2:9-11; 3:11-19

We need to love our fellowman. When we love our fellowman and not just in word, but in deed and truth we will find the light of Christ and the love of God dwelling in us. If we do not have love for our fellowman than how can we love God? We will be in darkness if we have not compassion and love for one another.

· 1 John 2:15-17

We must not have love for worldly things, or worldly lusts. These things are of little importance and will not last. But, we will abide forever if we do the will of God.

· 1 John 2: 20-21, 27

I think this scripture means that we have the gift of the Holy Ghost and we must live worthy of the gift and let it be with us every day. We must obey the promptings we receive from the spirit.

· 1 John 3:4-6

Abide in the Lord, we do this by doing things that He would do. Live the way our Savior would live.

Of, the above qualifications that we need to do to be more like the Savior and come to know him, I need to work on Charity and selflessness. I think too much of myself. I need to put other’s needs before my own. I need to care about the disposition of others more than of myself. I need to find acts of service to do for others. I need to be patient and understanding. I need to increase my desire to do good for others. I think that if I work on this area, I will feel closer to the spirit and feel closer to our Savior.

Why we should rejoice in our trials. 1 Peter 1-4

What is the purpose of life here on earth? Well, it is to be tested to prove to our Heavenly Father that we are willing to keep His commandments, to do His will and stand by Him so that ultimately we can live with Him again. We want to grow closer to our Heavenly Father here on this earth so that we will be worthy to dwell with Him after this time of probation. So, becuase we need to prove ourselves and we need to grow....the Lord places things in our lives that we may do just that. These things that I am talking about are trials, temptations, and being ridiculed for the Lord's sake.

The saying "refiners fire" is a very real thing. In order to purify silver, it is placed over extreme heat so that it melts and the impurities are burned away. The silversmith or the Creator knows when the silver is purified when He can see His reflection in the silver. If we want to build our muscles and grow stronger, our muscles need to be worked and exercised, we need to lift weights. The muscles tear and then they rebuild and when they rebuild they are stronger. I like what it says in 1 Peter 2:20, it basically cuases us to think why do we dismiss people making fun of us when we make mistakes, but then we are embarrassed when people make fun of us for doing the right thing. If people are ridiculing you for doing the right thing, they will learn their lesson in time and you will be blessed for choosing the right.

So, when the Lord places trials, temptations, and mockers in our lives we need to remember...The Lord wants us to grow closer to Him. I should be happy and put my trust in Him! I should rejoice and be enveloped in the Lord's love and concern for me! I should be happy that I am following in the footsteps of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Others that showed faith and received blessings because of it.

By faith, Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon, taught the Saints and lived his life in according to God’s commandments. We are forever blessed because of Joseph Smith’s faithfulness.

By Faith, the pioneers crossed the plains and endured persecutions which made it possible for us to enjoy The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today with total religious freedom and the Church to be established across the whole earth.

By faith, my son received a blessing from President Eyring and was healed from a blood disorder that could have cost him his life or other suffering.

In Hebrews 12:1-2: We need to lay aside our sins and run this race of life with patience and trusting in the Lord, Jesus Christ. He ran the perfect race and we need to try to run this race of life like He did. This is how we can show our faith in Him.

Faith is different than belief. Faith is action when we perform the action because we trust in God, our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. All good things and miracles have happened and continue to happen because of faith. Without faith, the world could not have been created. Faith is the power by which miracles happen because all things must be done through Jesus Christ.

My New Testament Class

I am taking a New Testament class and an option for an assignment is to post a blog entry on a topic I learned about. The section of this topic comes from Hebrews 1 and 2. Paul wrote this letter to the Hebrews because the Jews were having a hard time giving up their Jewish traditions...specifically the Law of Moses. Paul wanted to convey the importance of the Savior and how it is needful to follow His law. Paul wrote to them about Christ's greatness, the truths that He taught, and the reasons why He needed to come to Earth.

1. Christ is superior to....

The law of Christ is superior to the law of Moses.
Jesus is greater than the angels. Angels are servants and Christ is the Son of God. He has a higher calling than the angels.
Jesus is greater than Moses. Moses was a faithful servant, but Jesus was a faithful Son.
Jesus is greater than Melchizedek. It says that Melchizedek was greater than Abraham and Jesus is even superior to Melchizedek, He is a High Priest of Melchizedek.

2. Three Truths about the Savior

Christ is heir of all things and he made the worlds.
Christ is the brightness of his Celsestial Glory and is in the express image of the Father.
Christ purged our sins and sits at the right hand of the Majesty on High.

3. Why the Son of God came to Earth to experience mortality:

He experienced all things (all things in subjection under His feet).
He needed to suffer death to taste death for every man and destroy death.
He needed to destroy the devil
He became the captain of our Salvation through His sufferings.
He made reconciliation for the sins of the people.
He is able to understand all experiences of all men.
He came to overcome the temptations that He suffered.
He came to be our example of how to live on the earth to obtain salvation.
He came to be merciful and extend mercy and grace to His children.
He suffered pains and afflictions of every kind that the word might be fulfilled.
He took upon Him death that he could break the bonds of death.
He took upon Him the infirmaties of all men that he would be filled with mercy toward all men and know how to relieve their sufferings.
He suffereth according to the flesh that He might take upon Him the sins of the people.
He came to cleanse the world from all unrighteousness.
He came to descend below them all that none are greater than He.

Brigham Funnies!

Brigham has been doing some really cute and funny things! His toys are in a laundry basket and sometimes he goes to reach for one and falls in the basket and then he can't get out! One time I looked over and he was just playing with a football laying curled up in the laundry basket. I didn't notice he had fallen in because he didn't complain about it. Another funny thing: Brigham is starting to close doors. Today he crawled into Mommy and Daddy's room and then shut the door. He started crying because he couldn't get out of the room. He is so much fun! He sure is good at pulling himself up to everything!

Hey, everyone! Brigham here. I just wanted to let everyone know how cool it was at church yesterday. First, in Sacrament Meeting, I just got to nap the whole time in Mommy's and Daddy's arms with nice, soothing background music to go to sleep to. In Sunday School, I woke up and was a little hungry. So, check it out! Mom fed me. How cool is that? I went with Mom to Relief Society and let me tell you, all of the women were staring at me because they thought I was soooo cute! So, church was awesome: eat, sleep, and get the all ladies' attention!

This is little Briggs on Easter. We spent it in Shelley at Grandma/Grandpa Bitter's. We had a candy hunt around the house and had a wonderful Easter Dinner. Doug and I took turns going to church and watching the little one. (That's how it goes). We are excited that we will be taking him out soon!!!!

Brigham came home after two weeks in the NICU. It's been so nice to have him home with us! He is doing great and just needs to come off oxygen for 100% of the time. Thanks to our family and friends for their faith and prayers!
